WHAT'S IN THE MARKET?
Banque Du Liban injected $400,000,000 into the Lebanese Knowledge Economy.
The Central Bank circular 331, announced in August 2013, aims to give a boost to local startups, giving them a greater incentive to set up in Lebanon, keeping their talent and money at home.
The $400 million in this new initiative is 75% guaranteed by the BDL for local banks, equity investment accelerators, incubators, funds and startups.
The objective is to move Lebanon towards a knowledge-based economy and eventually create job opportunities to battle the unemployment rate
Main Venture Capital funds: Berytech Fund II, MEVP, and LEAP Ventures.
The iSME program is a $30 million initiative funded by the Government of Lebanon through a loan from the World Bank.
It aims to encourage the Equity Investment market to increase early stage investment funding in viable Start-ups and existing Innovative Firms.
Two types of financing are provided:
- Concept Development Grants (CDGs)
- Equity Co-Investments
A $15 Million Investment Fund launched by Berytech & USAID under the MENA Investment Initiative.

Kafalat is a Lebanese financial company with a public concern that assists SMEs to access commercial bank funding.
